There are many stumbling blocks in the espresso preparation chain that can have a negative impact on the quality of the espresso. Although the dosage, grind and correct machine settings have been made, you still don’t always get the best out of the coffee bean.
If you are careless, you can quickly hold the tamper at an uneven angle when pressing it, resulting in a crooked coffee puck. The water seeks the path of least resistance and thus tends to flow through on the flat side. The result is an uneven extraction.
Our tamper is ergonomically designed to guarantee repeatable, clean and even production of a straight coffee puck. Simply place the tamper on the sieve filled with coffee grounds and apply pressure via the well-shaped handle. This compresses the coffee grounds evenly. The flanks of the tamper are deliberately not manufactured at a 90 degree angle, but taper towards the lower part. This makes it possible to work very precisely without jamming and also compresses the ground coffee very cleanly at the edge. This keeps the brewing group clean and enables the best extraction.
Please note that a diameter of 53 mm must always be selected for Sage barista machines.
